Basics

Character: Riku Replica aka Repliku
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Version: End of the Kingdom hearts Chain of Memories game
Age: As a clone Repliku is even less than a year old. Appearance-wise he looks around 16.
Gender: Male.
Sexuality: Sexuality is something the replica never thought about, considering his rather short existence, he didn’t have much time to think about it either. The only thing he could think about back in the castle was protecting Naminé and fighting Sora & Riku. So he can still swing whatever way or none at all. He really doesn’t care.

Appearance

Naturally being a replica he looks exactly like the real Riku in the first KH game. He has the very same aquamarine eyes, shoulder-length silver hair, pale complexion and firm build. He even was given the same clothes.

Repliku is mostly seen in Riku’s ‘dark outfit’. An outfit made out of some sort of tight material, wrapped around his whole body from his neck to his feet. Most of it is black with the fingertips, chest and boots a shade of blue and the rest of his hands red. His chest is adorned with an empty heartless symbol. Around his waist he wears a belt that has a white tattered cloth attached to it with two other smaller crossed belts holding it in a skirt-like form. Although it is NOT a skirt, thank you very much.

For the more ‘normal’ wear he has Riku’s yellow sleeveless top and poofy blue pants. Although if given a choice, Repliku would probably wear something not quite as bright.

Personality

Whatever Riku was before, Repliku is doubled. He has the same arrogance, pride and fearlessness as the real Riku had. If it weren’t for the memories and the fact he rejected and feared the darkness Riku might have been the same as Repliku. At first Repliku didn’t care about being a clone but when they made Naminé erase his memories and put in the same fake memories they gave Sora (against Repliku’s will), he was made to believe he was the real Riku. When the truth was revealed that he was nothing more than a simple clone, Repliku couldn’t stand it. He felt empty and that everything about him was borrowed. He couldn’t keep on existing and be his own person as long as the Real Thing was around.

In all his desperate attempts to become real he met his fate at the hands of Riku. In the end he seemed to have come to terms with the fact he was a fake although he still desperately wished he was unique.

Abilities/Weaponry

Unlike Riku, Repliku wields the darkness freely. As he does not fear the darkness and actually thrills on it. He has the same weapon, the Soul Eater, like Riku. It rests in his dark heart and he can summon it at will.

His abilities too are the same save for the fact that Repliku uses them more freely than Riku would. There’s Dark Firaga, where he creates a flame of darkness and shoots it out of his palm. To attack from the air with great speed he uses Dark Break. His strongest ability is the Dark Aura which he uses to engulf the surroundings in darkness so his foes have a difficult time seeing him as he starts attacking from all sides. The move ends by releasing pools of darkness from the ground, anyone unfortunate enough to stand on one will be shot upwards.

Furthermore Repliku has the ability to teleport small distances although he doesn’t use it that much. No need to waste energy on an ability if you can walk.

Weaknesses

Temper. Being rather proud and arrogant he’s quick to lash out if provoked and he has the tendency to underestimate others. Also the fact that he’s fearless means his curiosity could easily get him in trouble. Fear being a boundary that keeps other people away from danger while Repliku does not have that boundary.

History

Repliku was created from the data Vexen obtained when he fought Riku in Castle Oblivion. Once he was created Vexen decided to test his little experiment and send the replica out to fight Riku. Despite the fact that Repliku wields the darkness freely he still lost to his original and Larxene suggested that they should replace his memories with the fake ones Naminé gave to Sora to make him believe he was the real Riku. Vexen thought of it as a good idea and despite all of Repliku’s protests, they made Naminé do so.

After that he went after Sora several times to stop him from seeing Naminé, claiming that Naminé did not want to see him and he had made a promise to protect her (just like Sora). At one point Sora tried helping the replica, thinking it was the real Riku. However Repliku took that moment as an opportunity to nearly kill him. Naminé felt forced to crush his heart, erasing all memories (rendering him to nothing more but an empty shell) and Larxene revealed the truth about him being nothing more than a silly toy Vexen created.

Unknown to them Repliku stubbornly clung to the fake memories since they were all he had and made a recovery just in time to save Sora from Marluxia. He stayed behind to protect Naminé while Sora fought with Marluxia. Once the battle was over Repliku left to seek out the reason of his existence. That’s when Axel found him wandering about the castle and told him he could become his own person if he obtained new powers. This resulted in Repliku killing Zexion to obtain his powers but Repliku realized that having new powers would not make him his own person.

Reaching the conclusion that as long his original was around he could never be real, he went after him and fought him for the last time. He met his end at Riku’s hands and the two made amends before Repliku disappeared, wondering where a fake heart like his would end up.
